This is an air-conditioned one bedroom apartment right in the centre of the historical district that accommodates up to 5 people. The apartment The apartment is on the 3rd floor of a restored period building. The entrance opens onto a well furnished living area ; panoramic windows, sofa bed, coffee table, television and dining table. A small kitchen area contains a fridge/freezer, hotplates and a sink. The bedroom has a double bed and plenty of wardrobe space. Access to the bathroom which has a shower is from the bedroom. Access and environment Access to the apartment is from a side street and whilst this is a busy area it is not frantic like many other areas of central Rome. There is excellent security on both the front door and the apartment door. Close to the apartment are many small shops and restaurants, all within a few minutes walk The Location The Trevi Fountain area needs no further introduction. It is along with Piazza Navona and The Spanish Steps one of Rome’s main tourist attractions not only for its beauty and mystic but also for its romantic aura! LEGEND ABOUT FOUNTAIN TREVI In 19 B.C. Marco Vespasiano Agrippa decides to construct a long canal to feed the springs he developed near the Pantheon. The legend states that soldiers were sent to research the water springs closest to Rome, who, while on assignment, met a young girl that led them to the pure springs. It is from this legend that the water is gets its name the \\\'Virgin Water\\\'. During antiquity, a glass of the fresh, thirst quenching water from the Trevi Fountain was said to ensure good fortune and a fast return to Rome. Over the course of time, this practice was replaced with the tossing of a coin in the fountain. The precise tradition calls for one to throw the coin over one\\\'s left shoulder while standing with one\\\'s back to the fountain. The fountain today, contains a wide collection of international coins tossed by those travellers wishing to return to this distinctly romantic and wonderful place in Rome. There is second romantic ritual associated with the Trevi Fountain. This legend pertains to the miniature fountain of the left side, known as \\\'the small fountain of lovers\\\'. According to the legend, couples that drink from the mini fountain will forever be faithful to their partner. This is the most imposing, scenographic and artistically worthy of all fountains not only in Rome. When, at the beginning of 1730, Pope Clemente XII decided to substitute the beautiful fountian designed by Leon Battista Alberti in 1453 with one of imposing majesty, he invited the best artists of that time to present their projects. Nicola Salvi was chosen and work was begun in 1735 and concluded under the papacy of Clamente VIII Rezzonico. The fountain was inaugurated on the 22nd May 176. It covers the whole of one side of Piazza Poli being 20 metres wide and 26 metres high. The Coat-of-arms of Clemente XII carved by Paolo Benaglia is placed at the top, four statues by the sculptors Corsini, Ludovisi, Pincellotti and Queirolo symbolise the four seasons are on the balustrade. In the centre is a coach in the form of a shell pulled by two sea-horses driven by two tritons from which a majestic statue representing the Ocean emerges. The whole group was carved in marble by Pietro Bracci. To the side of the niches is the \\\'Salubrity\\\' on the right and \\\'Abundance\\\' on the left, both works by Filippo Valle. Above these two sculptures is a bas-relief by Giovan Battista Grossi and Andrea Bergondi, reminding one of the legend of Agrippa who approved the project of the aqueduct to that of the virgin who indicates the source to thirsty soldiers. The large basin built on street level symbolises the sea and it is here that tourists throw their coins to wish themselves a pleasant return to the Eternal City. Legend tells that, in order to block the view of work from an excessively critical barber, the architect Salvi placed a large and heavy travertine vase, ironically similar to a soap-dish, immediately in front of the barber\\\'s shop. The external left side holds the \\\'Fountain of the Lovers\\\', a simple rectangular basin which receives water from a small pipe.
